Jerusalem youth dies from wounds after nightclub brawl

A young man died from wounds sustained during a brawl at a central Jerusalem nightclub late Thursday.

A second youth — the precise ages were not given by police — remained hospitalized in serious condition Friday in the capital’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

According to police, the cause of the brawl at a nightclub on Jerusalem’s King George Street remains unknown. Authorities launched a manhunt for the suspected stabber of the two victims.

Also Thursday, police arrested a Palestinian resident of the West Bank suspected of killing a coworker at a Holon construction site 10 months ago.

Anes Zidat, 24, is the first to be arrested in the ongoing investigation that has seen a large number of suspects but no viable leads thus far, according to Israel Radio.

In December, the victim, Sati Abu Othman, was pushed down an open elevator shaft at a construction site in the Tel Aviv suburb.

Zidat’s remand was extended until Sunday.
