Friday marked the last day of the 5774 school year for 673,000 Israeli high school students.

On July 1, the vacationing teenagers, in grades seven through 12, will be joined by another 1.5 million elementary school students and over 71,000 teachers who will begin the education system’s summer break.

The 5775 school year — Israeli academic years are delineated by the Hebrew calendar year — is slated to begin September 1.

The Education Ministry has produced a special app, “Educating Around the Clock,” that will allow students to find educational programs taking place during the summer months in all 250 towns, villages and local councils. The information is also available on the Education Ministry website.

Some 70 percent of first- and second-graders — or over 150,000 children — have signed up for summer programs, the Walla news site said, quoting education officials.
