Army major suspected of trying to sell hard drugs

Military Police arrested an IDF major as he was trying to sell a “significant quantity” of hard drugs on Wednesday, the army said.

The investigation leading to the officer’s arrest was conducted by the Military Police’s investigations branch.

A military spokesperson said it was not immediately clear if other soldiers or officers were involved in the drug dealing.

The army would not say what type of drugs the major is suspected of trying to sell, but described them as hard drugs.

In a statement, the IDF said it “denounces all the actions that the officer is suspected of doing.”

The army would not reveal the officer’s name and the unit in which he served.

The Military Police investigation is ongoing, the army said.

“[The IDF] will continue to take steps in a variety of ways to prevent crimes from being committed in its ranks,” the army said.
