4-year-old victim of Beit Shemesh stabbing released from hospital

The 4-year-old who was stabbed along with another young child in Beit Shemesh on Monday was sent home this morning, Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital says.

Prof. Dan Arbel, director of the hospital’s pediatric surgery department, and Prof. Nir Hirschhorn, director of the hospital’s complex head and neck surgery unit, say that the 4-year-old underwent surgery on the evening of his arrival at the hospital, and that there has been significant improvement in his condition after several days of treatment.

He will continue to be monitored until he fully recovers, the hospital says.

The boys were stabbed in an apartment in the central Israeli city. The other child, 7, was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.

The incident is not being treated as an act of terror. A suspect, reportedly a neighbor, has been arrested and is thought to be mentally unstable.
