Abbas to meet pope before nuns’ canonization
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePalestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will meet Pope Francis on Saturday, on the eve of the canonization of two nuns who became the first “Palestinian” saints of the modern era.
Abbas will then attend the ceremony where Mariam Bawardi (1846-1878), who came from the Galilee, and Marie-Alphonsine Ghattas (1843-1927), from Jerusalem, will be made saints of the Catholic Church.
