After rocket-producing West Bank cell busted, Sa’ar blames PA, warns against forming Palestinian state

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar warns against the “enormous danger” in establishing a Palestinian state following the IDF’s announcement that it had dismantled a Palestinian terror cell in the Ramallah area of the West Bank that was producing rockets to be fired at Israel.

As several Western states prepare to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state in the coming days at the United Nations General Assembly, Sa’ar writes on X that the busted cell — along with what he calls the Palestinian Authority’s failure to act — is “further proof of the enormous danger in establishing a ‘Palestinian state.’”

He says the rockets were made “to launch at communities in Judea and Samaria,” using the biblical name for the West Bank, and repeats his accusation that the Palestinian Authority is failing to combat terror.

“Despite its commitments, the PA is not fighting terrorism and continues its ‘Pay-for-Slay’ policy,” he says.

“If Israel does not maintain security control over Judea and Samaria — the entire State of Israel will be in danger,” he writes.

Though Israeli and American officials continue to condemn the practice, the PA signed a decree in February canceling legislation that established an old welfare system that included payments to the families of slain terrorists and the families of security prisoners held in Israeli jails, dubbed “Pay-for-Slay” by critics, and has since appeared to move forward with the reform.
