National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir accuses Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara of crossing a red line after it is announced that she is considering filing an indictment against Likud MK Tally Gotliv for violating the Shin Bet law by allegedly disclosing the identity of an agent of the security service.
“I express full support for MK Tally Gotliv, who is fearlessly fighting for freedom of expression and revealing the truth to the public. An attempt to intimidate her through a criminal investigation is a matter of grave concern,” Ben Gvir says.
“Turning a public and moral struggle into a criminal offense is crossing a red line. MK Gotliv acted out of a sense of mission and not with the intention of harming the security of the state, and any attempt to deter her will not succeed,” adds the Otzma Yehudit leader.
In January 2024, Gotliv posted that the partner of Shikma Bressler, a key leader of the protest movement against the government’s judicial overhaul agenda, was a Shin Bet agent, which would violate the 2002 Law for the Shin Bet.
Gotliv has claimed that her actions are protected by her parliamentary immunity as an MK.
She was twice summoned for questioning by the police over the affair but has refused to show up.
