In escalation, IDF says it carried out strike on ‘prominent’ Hezbollah operative in Beirut

The IDF says it conducted an airstrike against a “prominent” Hezbollah operative in Beirut a short while ago.
According to Lebanese media, the strike took place in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a known Hezbollah stronghold.
The IDF says it will provide further details soon.
Israel has increased its strikes on Hezbollah in recent weeks amid accusations that the terror group was violating the year-old ceasefire and in frustration at lagging Lebanese efforts to disarm the terror group.
However, Israel has held off on striking the Lebanese capital.
The last IDF strikes on Beirut took place in July, although those attacks targeted Hezbollah infrastructure following evacuation warnings.
