Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will convene a security consultation with top military officials and a handful of top ministers in order to approve the IDF’s plans to take over Gaza City, Hebrew media reports.
It is unclear whether the ministers will also discuss the phased hostage release deal proposal accepted by Hamas on Monday, to which Israel has yet to formally respond.
Netanyahu has indicated that he is not interested in the deal and plans to move ahead with the Gaza City takeover.
Earlier this month, the cabinet authorized Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz to make decisions moving forward regarding the Gaza City takeover without requiring the cabinet to convene each time.
