The US was not told about the Israeli strike on Hezbollah’s de facto chief of staff, Haytham Ali Tabatabai, in Beirut today, a senior US official tells Channel 12.

A second senior American official says that Washington has known for several days that Israel was planning to escalate its strikes in Lebanon, but “did not know in advance the timing, location, or target of the strike.”
