Sudan rivals announce latest truce extension as fighting rages

The two warring Sudanese forces announce the extension of an existing ceasefire for a further 72 hours — the latest of multiple truces that have largely been violated by both sides.

The Sudanese Armed Forces and the rival Rapid Support Forces both confirm the prolongation of a truce that was due to end at midnight, with the army saying the extension has come due to “US and Saudi mediation.”
