Apartments belonging to Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael – Jewish National Fund in the center of Tel Aviv are being handed out to friends and family of the leaders of its national union at low rents, according to a report on Channel 12.

Among the extensive landholdings of the forestry and development group and its subsidiaries is a building on Tel Aviv’s Zamenhof Street, in the pricey city center, according to the report. The network reports that several apartments in the building belong to, or are occupied by, friends and relatives of members of the KKL-JNF board of directors, including its leader, Yisrael Goldstein.

Apartments in the building rent for thousands of shekels below market rate, according to the report.

In an interview with Channel 12, Goldstein denies wrongdoing and says the apartments are rented out according to the organization’s by-laws.

The network also notes that Goldstein is a power broker in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, detailing longstanding reports that he pressures the organization’s employees into registering as party members, and tells them whom to vote for in primaries.

The report also says KKL-JNF has given jobs to multiple spouses of cabinet ministers.
