US sanctions International Criminal Court president

The United States imposes sanctions on Tomoko Akane, a Japanese judge who is president of the International Criminal Court, according to the US Treasury Department website.
It is the latest in a series of sanctions and other actions the US has taken targeting the court in The Hague, Netherlands. The US has objected to the ICC’s warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant, who are accused of committing war crimes in Gaza. The US also objects to the ICC’s investigation into alleged crimes by US personnel in Afghanistan.
