Toddler killed in suspected hit-and-run in southern Israel

17-month-old pronounced dead in hospital after being run over in Bedouin town of Kuseife

A toddler was killed in a suspected hit-and-run accident in southern Israel on Saturday.

The child, a 17-month-old, was run over by a car in the Bedouin town of Kuseife in the Negev desert. The vehicle then fled the scene.

Police opened an investigation into the incident and were looking for the driver.

The toddler was taken to a clinic in the town in critical condition and was initially treated by paramedics before being taken to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba where he was later pronounced dead.
