Boy hospitalized after stung by deadly scorpion
14-year-old in serious condition at Beersheba hospital after poisoned by deathstalker
A 14-year-old boy was in serious condition Monday after being stung by a scorpion in the southern city of Arad.
The Israeli yellow scorpion, also commonly known as the deathstalker, is a highly venomous species common in southern Israel’s Negev Desert.While its venom is not lethal for adults, it can be deadly for the young, elderly and infirm.
Magen David Adom paramedics performed first aid on the teen on site and rushed him to Beersheba’s Soroka Medical Center.
The extreme heat in the region these past few days has drawn poisonous animals, such as scorpions, out into the open, Channel 2 reported.
