Well known Israeli singer Yigal Bashan was rushed to hospital in moderate condition Sunday afternoon after being stabbed in the chest.

Bashan was examined and received initial treatment by hospital staff and was later admitted to the operating room.

Police were investigating the stabbing, though Army Radio reported that a criminal incident had been ruled out.

Bashan, 64, has a career spanning over four decades and has issued dozens of albums over the years. He has also acted in many theater productions and in the 1980s had a successful children’s television show, Hopa Hey.
