The Kiev Jew who suffered a severe beating on the eve of Passover arrived in Israel Tuesday for medical treatment at Tel Aviv’s Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov Hospital), Israel Radio reported.

Aharon Alexander, a 25-year-old religious student, was attacked on the street after attending a Passover seder, reported representatives of the Jewish community. He is still in critical condition.

Alexander was flown to Israel on a private plane, according to Israel Radio. An Israeli delegation is set to meet with Ukrainian officials on Wednesday to discuss speeding up the investigation into the attack.

Alexander was found unconscious on Saturday night after apparently having been beaten over the head with a glass bottle. He was brought to a hospital and treated for serious injuries.

Representatives of the Jewish community in Ukraine have said that wearing a kippa in the country’s major cities makes one a target and is considered dangerous.
