Woman falsely reported as seriously injured in West Bank stoning

A report of a woman seriously injured in a rock throwing attack in the West Bank Saturday night turned out to be a false alarm, after Israeli rescuers and security forces said they could not locate an attack site.

The woman, in her 30s, had reportedly lost control of her vehicle after it was hit with a barrage of stones near Shiloh Junction, north-east of the Palestinian city of Ramallah in the West Bank.

Israeli forces and rescuers, including a Magen David Adom helicopter, rushed to the scene.

However, security forces responding to the scene said the reports were false.

A Magen David Adom spokesman told The Times of Israel there was no report of an injured woman in a rock-throwing attack in the West Bank.

Some reports indicated the woman may have been Palestinian and treated locally.

The report of the rock attack at around 11 p.m. came after two other violent incidents in the West Bank Saturday.

Several hours earlier, a Border Police officer was lightly wounded after he was stabbed by a Palestinian teenager near Tapuah Junction in the northern West Bank.

The assailant was shot at the scene and died of his wounds shortly thereafter.

On Saturday afternoon, an Israel Defense Forces soldier was lightly wounded in a knife attack by a Palestinian man at the Ofer checkpoint in the West Bank, north of Jerusalem.

The attacker was shot and wounded at the scene.

Tensions in the West Bank have ramped up in recent weeks following the fatal firebombing of a Palestinian home, likely by Jewish terrorists.

Last week, three soldiers were wounded when a Palestinian plowed his car into them while they were on a foot patrol in the northern West Bank.

Days later, an Israeli civilian was stabbed and moderately wounded in an attack by a group of Palestinians at a gas station on Route 443

And on Friday evening, a gas station was set alight on Route 60, near the West Bank settlement of Eli, by unknown assailants who fled the scene.
