For third time in week, truck carrying crane crashes into overpass
No injuries reported on Tel Aviv’s Ayalon highway; roads closed as vehicle removed
A truck transporting a crane hit an overpass on a central Israeli highway on Tuesday, in the third incident of its kind in just over a week.
There were no injuries in the collision, which took place at the La Guardia underpass in south Tel Aviv.
The Ayalon highway was closed off to traffic in both directions as emergency services moved the truck, which police said was stuck under the overpass.
On Monday, three people were lightly injured after a bulldozer was knocked off the back of a truck as the transporting vehicle drove under an overpass on Route 1, a major intercity highway connecting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

That incident came days after truck driver Ali Hai Tadri, 58, from Holon, was crushed to death when the crane on the back of his vehicle hit a Route 4 overpass, causing it to collapse on him.
Netivei Israel – National Transport Infrastructure Company said that the bridge over Route 4 had been checked five months ago and found to be safe. The Elhanan bridge, a pedestrian walkway linking the Tel Aviv suburb towns of Bnei Brak and Givat Shmuel, appeared to have been empty at the time.
