At Doha Summit, Egypt and Jordan say Israeli actions ‘hinder future of peace’

The leaders of Egypt and Jordan express heavy criticism of Israel at an emergency summit of Arab and Islamic states convened in Doha in the wake of an Israeli airstrike on Hamas officials in Qatar, saying that its actions hinder any new regional peace deals.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi says at the Arab summit in Qatar that Israel crossed “all red lines” in its strike on Doha.
“Israel’s conduct has crossed all red lines, and we condemn this in the strongest terms,” he says. The Egyptian president adds, “Israeli chaos requires joint action to protect our interests.”
“What is happening right now hinders the future of peace, threatens your security and the security of the peoples in the region and adds obstacles to chances for any new peace agreements and even aborts existing ones,” says Sissi, whose country has maintained consistent if bumpy ties with Israel for 45 years.
Jordan’s King Abdullah II, whose nation also signed a peace deal with Israel 30 years ago, says at the summit that “the strike in Qatar is proof that the Israeli threat knows no bounds, and our response must be clear and deterrent.”
He calls on Arab and Islamic states to adopt practical decisions on the matter, and “review all tools of joint action” to face this threat.
