Foreign minister heads to US for first official visit in the role

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar will depart Israel tonight for his first official visit to the United States since taking office in November, the Foreign Ministry announces.

Sa’ar is set to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is also serving as national security adviser, on Wednesday at the State Department in Washington — their second meeting following Rubio’s visit to Israel in February.

He will also meet US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, whom he hosted in Israel in May after the killing of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, two employees of Israel’s embassy in Washington.

During his visit, Sa’ar will also hold talks with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, AIPAC leadership, and host a reception for Jewish community leaders and Christian supporters of Israel.
