Israel’s Foreign Ministry: ‘Hezbollah is rearming faster than it is being disarmed’

After the Lebanese army claimed it has effectively disarmed Hezbollah south of the Litani River, Israel’s Foreign Ministry says that “extensive Hezbollah military infrastructure still exists south of the Litani River.”

“The goal of disarming Hezbollah in southern Lebanon remains far from being achieved,” says the ministry in a statement.

The ministry includes a video pointing out alleged military sites that Hezbollah has reestablished in the southern Lebanese town of Beit Lif.

At the same time. Israel “acknowledges the decision of the Lebanese government to address the disarmament of Hezbollah and some of the efforts the Lebanese Armed Forces have made in this context,” but calls them “limited.”

“Hezbollah is rearming faster than it is being disarmed,” says Israel, adding that cooperation between some Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) units and Hezbollah is “regrettable.”

The Foreign Ministry argues that ongoing IDF attacks against Hezbollah do not get in the way of Lebanon’s campaign to disarm the Shiite terror group, and that they actually support that effort.

“Israel expects LAF efforts to disarm Hezbollah to continue south of the Litani and throughout all other parts of Lebanon, in full accordance with the ceasefire agreement,” says the ministry.
