Labor Party leader Isaac Herzog dismisses Yisrael Katz’s call that he join Netanyahu on his trip to Washington next week.
“Netanyahu’s spin on who goes to Washington must stop. My strong position against Iran’s nuclear program is known to every Israeli or American politician, including the US president, and I know how to voice it clearly and unequivocally, from here – not from there,” Herzog’s campaign managers wrote on Facebook.
Labor MK Shelly Yachimovich is even harsher. Speaking on Army Radio, Yacimovich calls on Netanyahu to cancel his speech scheduled for next week and says that “Netanyahu must be reminded that the reason for the trip is preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, not an election speech.”
“In his stubbornness Netanyahu is causing irreversible damage to the state. He must remember this is not a reality show with Moshik Galamin, not an electioneering clip, and not anymore material for election spins, but the future of the country.”
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
