Jewish activists splashed with red paint while hanging hostage posters at Frankfurt park

German Jewish activist Sacha Stawski tells German tabloid Bild he and two others were splashed Friday evening with red paint while hanging up posters of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza at a park in Frankfurt.

“We attached posters with photos of the 50 hostages still in Hamas’s captivity to a fence in the Frankfurt Grüneburgpark,” he tells Bild.

Stawski says they had previously been pushed away by a mob of dozens of people. He says that posters of hostages are regularly torn down in the park.

While holding up photos, he says he suddenly heard “antisemitic calls.”

“We were insulted as child killers, and I constantly heard ‘Free Palestine,’ and ‘genocide’ calls,” he says, adding that he and two other men were suddenly attacked by a woman holding two tubes of red paint.

“The paint was also poured over my glasses, so I found it hard to see the perpetrator,” he says.

Police confirm the incident to Bild and say they have increased their presence in the area.
