Likud to shift blame on housing prices to Lapid

Top Likud MKs and campaign managers are preparing for the publication of the state comptroller’s special report on the cost of housing, scheduled to be released on Wednesday.

The strategy – according to Haaretz – will be to blame Yesh Atid leader and former finance minister Yair Lapid, who was at the time appointed by Netanyahu to head a special housing panel.

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz was a member of that committee – and he is likely to lead the smear campaign against Lapid and by extension – the Yesh Atid party.

Media outlets have been playing up the upcoming comptroller report on housing as another blow to the prime minister’s reelection campaign, following last week’s report on spending excesses at Netanyahu’s official residence.
