Neo-Nazi mother and daughter jailed in Scotland for antisemitic hate posts

A neo-Nazi mother and daughter who posted what a Scottish judge called “deeply disturbing” antisemitic, racist and transphobic material online have been sentenced to prison in Edinburgh.
Shirley Craughwell, 51, and her daughter, Hannah Craughwell, 27, pleaded guilty to hate crime offenses aggravated by racial and religious prejudice committed between 2021 and 2024. The case involved extremist propaganda, Holocaust denial and threats against Jews and other minorities.
In court on Tuesday, Sheriff Charles Walls said Shirley Craughwell repeatedly expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler, promoted conspiracy theories about “white genocide,” and called for another Holocaust. He said her conduct went beyond offensive speech and amounted to violent and threatening messaging toward Jewish people.
Hannah Craughwell, meanwhile, used the online alias “Hannah Hitler,” shared neo-Nazi propaganda, distributed extremist leaflets in her community and posted antisemitic, racist and transphobic content on multiple platforms, the court was told.

The mother has been sentenced to a 20-month custodial term in prison, backdated to November 27, while the daughter has been sentenced to 16 months.
