Report finds only 7 women among 86 senior appointments in past year

Out of 86 senior appointments in the public service over the past year, only seven were of women, Ynet reports, citing data from Larishona – The Center for Women’s Leadership in Israel.

The organization looked at positions such as ministers, local authority chiefs, top defense and military officials, presidents of academic institutions, and leadership roles at ministries and in the judicial and health sectors.

Examining a total of 566 jobs, Larishona found that only 11 percent were filled by women. It says ministerial and judicial positions have actually regressed in recent years, with the number of women in top roles on a downward trend since 2022.
