Saying they acted suspiciously, cops shoot Palestinian in leg, arrest another man found to have knife in separate incidents at checkpoints

Border Police say that officers shot a Palestinian man in the leg at the Shuafat checkpoint in East Jerusalem after he allegedly behaved suspiciously and failed to comply with orders to stop.

Earlier Thursday evening, police said that forces at the Tunnels checkpoint between the West Bank and southern Jerusalem stopped a resident of Hebron who arrived at the checkpoint on a motorcycle. He was acting suspiciously, according to the police statement.

The man did not follow the troops’ instructions, according to the statement, and they arrested him. A knife was found on his body, and he has been taken for further questioning. No Israeli forces were injured.
