Man dies in fall from military building after music festival

An Israeli man in his early 20s died early Friday morning after falling some five meters (16 ft.) from the roof of a military building in northern Israel.
The man had been attending the Unity Rising Spirit Festival in Hamat Gader, near Israel’s northern border with Jordan, when he climbed on the roof for reasons which were unclear, police said in a statement.
The man was rushed by helicopter to Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center but doctors were unable to revive him and pronounced him dead.
“In the early hours of the morning, a civilian fell from the roof of a military building near Hamat Gader. He was critically injured. The circumstances surrounding his entry into the military compound are being investigated,” an army spokesperson said.
A Magen David Adom paramedic said that the man suffered a head wound and systemic injuries.
“When we got there we saw the young man unconscious, with a wound on his head and multi-systemic injuries,” he said. “People at the site were offering him first aid. We administered life-saving medical treatment, including resuscitation and transferred him to a Magen David Adom ambulance which took him to the Rambam hospital in Haifa. He was in critical, unstable condition at that time.”
The annual Unity Festival is a weekend of house, techno and electronic music and attracts hundreds of party-goers.
