Israeli movie star Gal Gadot gave birth to a baby girl, announcing the newborn’s arrival on social media on Wednesday and revealing that her name will be “Ori,” a Hebrew moniker meaning “My light.”
Gadot, who lives in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles, posted a photo of herself cuddling Ori in a hospital bed to her Instagram account, which has 109 million followers.
“My sweet girl, welcome,” Gadot wrote. “The pregnancy was not easy and we made it through. You have brought so much light into our lives, living up to your name, Ori, which means ‘my light’ in Hebrew. Our hearts are full of gratitude.”
“Welcome to the house of girls… daddy is pretty cool too,” she added, a reference to husband Jaron Varsano and the couple’s three other children, all girls.
Ten hours later, the post had been “liked” three million times.
Gadot revealed she was pregnant in December. Her three other children are Alma, 11, Maya, 6, and Daniella, 2.

Gadot, who starred in the “Wonder Woman” blockbuster movies, has publicly advocated for Israel over the years.
Following the devastating October 7 attack by Palestinian terror group Hamas that killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, in Israel and saw another 253 taken as hostages to the Gaza Strip, Gadot has filled her Instagram feed with posts calling for the captives’ release.
In January she published a video message for the families of hostages marking 100 days since they were abducted. The approximately half remaining in Gaza have now been in captivity over 150 days.
