New Year’s Eve is an especially busy time for police and rescue services, and this year was no exception.
Magen David Adom said Friday it had cared for 461 Israelis overnight, including 63 minors who required medical attention after consuming large quantities of alcohol. Three of the minors were just 14 years old.
A 26-year-old woman was found unconscious and without a pulse following a party in central Tel Aviv. Rescuers managed to resuscitate the woman and restore her heartbeat, and she was taken to the city’s Ichilov Hospital in serious but stable condition.
In Beersheba, a 21-year-old man, apparently drunk, fell from a balcony and was taken in serious condition to Soroka Medical Center.
At least 33 people were treated by medics after they fainted.

The rescue service also saw 43 people injured in nighttime traffic accidents, all of them with light injuries.
Eight people were hurt in fights.
Not all of MDA’s overnight calls meant bad news. The service took 14 women to hospital to give birth. In Beersheba, one baby came too quickly to reach the hospital. He was successfully delivered in the ambulance at 3 a.m.
