Police arrested a Palestinian man in Jerusalem on Thursday after he was suspected of trying to conceal a gun he found inadvertently left behind by a security guard.

The gun was left behind by a security guard in a bathroom stall at Jerusalem’s First Station, a popular shopping, dining and entertainment district in the capital, police said.

According to police, the suspect, 20, found the gun and hid it in a garbage can.

Israel Police forces who arrived at the scene arrested him.

The suspect is a resident of Anata, a village located near Jerusalem, and part of which falls under the city’s municipal authority, Ynet reported.

It was not immediately clear why the suspect hid the gun.

The security guard to whom the gun belonged was also being investigated and may face criminal charges for abandoning his weapon.
