Eilat gets first rain of season, ahead of most of Israel; power disruptions expected
One of the first rains in the country this fall happens in an unlikely place — near Eilat in the far south, normally the driest area of Israel, where it rarely rains.
Video footage from the Eilat mountains shows the desert hills and roads being splattered with strong rain and even hail.
Rain is also expected later today in much of Israel, for the first time this year.
The Israel Electric Corporation has announced that as a result, power disruptions are possible over the next few days because much preparatory work ahead of the winter was postponed this year due to the pandemic.
