The government is set to appoint a new health minister, six days into the war sparked by a devastating assault by Hamas.

The Shas party plans to nominate MK Uriel Buso as a new and permanent health minister, swapping out Moshe Arbel who has held both the health and interior portfolios since Shas leader Aryeh Deri was dismissed from the cabinet.

Arbel will continue to serve as interior minister, his spokesperson confirms.
