The IDF confirms that troops opened fire on a Palestinian teenager near Bethlehem in the southern West Bank yesterday, saying he was involved in a riot.

The Palestinian Authority health ministry identified him as Ammar Yasser Muhammad Taamra, 16, and said he was shot dead.

According to the army, during an operation in the town of Teqoa, “a riot erupted which included stone throwing toward the force.”

“The troops used riot dispersal means and then opened fire on a main instigator,” the military says, adding that “a hit was identified.”

The IDF says that the incident is under further investigation.
