A woman was killed and three other people were injured Wednesday in a collision between two vehicles near the southern moshav of Amatzia, medics said.

Paramedics found the 60-year-old woman unconscious and trapped in the front seat of her car, according to a statement from the Magen David Adom ambulance service. A 22-year-old woman with serious wounds and a 24-year-old man who suffered mild abdominal injuries were also in the vehicle.

Medics rescued the passengers and attempted to resuscitate the 60-year-old, but were forced to declare her dead at the scene, MDA said.

The other woman was put on a ventilator and sedated, then taken by military helicopter to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba.

The man and a 52-year-old man in the second vehicle, who also suffered mild abdominal injuries, were taken by ambulance to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.

Police opened an investigation into crash.

According to the latest data from the National Road Safety Authority, 99 people have been killed on Israel’s roads since the beginning of 2023.
