Stormy weather swept across northern and central Israel Monday, with heavy thunderstorms hitting the suburbs of Haifa and the Galilee region and causing property damage and power outages in some areas.
Police said a water heater fell on a car in Kiryat Ata, while another vehicle in Haifa was damaged when a tree fell on it. Fallen trees were also responsible for some power outages in the Haifa suburbs.
“For about 10 minutes, it rained hail the size of ping pong balls,” a Haifa suburb resident told Channel 2.
The Israel Meteorological Service forecast rain throughout the day and overnight in the north and center, as well as a chance for rain in the northern Negev, bringing the possibility of flash floods in dry riverbeds.
Temperatures are expected to fall steadily over the next two days, with occasional showers from the north to the Negev Tuesday morning before gradually subsiding from around noon, according to the IMS.
