An IDF reconnaissance drone crashed along the Gaza border on Tuesday due to what the army said was a “technical failure,” Channel 10 reported on Thursday.
The craft landed inside Israeli territory and was recovered undamaged by the IDF.
Contact was lost for several hours with the small unarmed drone, used by ground troops to survey terrain, the IDF said, before it was discovered to have crashed.
There was no danger to troops, operators or the aircraft itself, the army said. An investigation was opened into the incident.
In January 2012 a large Heron TP drone crashed in central Israel during a test flight.
