Israeli soldiers on Thursday opened fire at a group of Palestinians who were reportedly hurling Molotov cocktails and rocks at them near the West Bank city of Tulkarem. One Palestinian was injured in the incident.

Palestinian news sources reported the injured Palestinian is 18-year-old Hamza Haloub, who was hit in the lower chest by live gunshot fire. He was evacuated to a local hospital, where his condition was defined as serious, but stable.

Earlier Thursday, stones thrown by Palestinians caused a car to collide with a truck near the West Bank settlement of Ariel, causing injuries to a mother and her 3 daughters, aged 3, 4 and 6. The condition of the 3-year-old was described as critical.

Channel 10 News reported an increase of more than 50 percent in rock-hurling incidents since the announcement of US President Barack Obama’s visit to Israel.
