Police arrested a man on Wednesday on suspicion that he stabbed his father to death after being released to house arrest by a local court against the advice of the police.
The victim’s wife found her husband, 61, in their apartment in Kiryat Ata in northern Israel, with multiple stab wounds.
Magen Dovid Adom ambulance crews tried to resuscitate the man but eventually pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators immediately began searching for the couple’s son, 31, also a resident of the town, who had recently been released to house arrest by a magistrate’s court.
The man was in custody over charges that he used a vehicle without permission, Channel 10 reported.

Police had asked the court to extend the man’s arrest out of fear that he posed a threat to the public and his family.
A police source said the man’s sister had warned authorities of the dangerous tensions between the suspect and his father, but the court approved his release to house arrest nonetheless.
