Airliner traveling from Miami to Tel Aviv with 183 aboard touches down after airport authority declares state of emergency
An American Airlines plane on Monday successfully landed at Ben Gurion Airport where a state of emergency was declared after the pilot reported a flat tire.
Israel Air Force planes were dispatched to accompany the airliner traveling from Miami to Tel Aviv with 183 passengers aboard.
There were also 59 Magen David Adom ambulances waiting on the tarmac as the plane touched down in case the landing was not successful.
After declaring a Level 2 emergency, the Israel Airports Authority ordered that the runway be sprayed with a special coolant that reduces friction.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
