International approach drives peace away, Netanyahu charges

Netanyahu says bitterly that the Palestinians gain little by talking, so why should they. They get recognition for there not being negotiations, he complains. “There are those who [seek to] impose terms in the UN Security Council because there are no talks,” he says, referring to efforts to impose terms for Palestinian statehood on Israel, and accuses those who back those efforts of pretending there are no dangers.

He says that approach drives peace away, since Israel will resist it, and it encourages the Palestinians to stay away from the bilateral negotiating table.

He expresses hopes that the Palestinians will change course, but says the recent Palestinian turn to ICC, to try to bring war crimes cases against Israel, is “ominous.”
