Likud MK Dan Illouz, outspoken critic of Haredi draft exemption efforts, announces he is leaving party

Freshman Likud MK Dan Illouz tells Channel 12 that he is leaving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s party and will not stand in its primary elections later this year.

Illouz is one of the most outspoken voices in the party against the government’s bill exempting Haredim from military service, and has repeatedly clashed with coalition and Likud figures over its legislation, which he has said goes against Likud’s “national, liberal values.”
