News agency withdraws story that claimed Israel warned a hospital, 5 schools to evacuate

French news agency AFP “withdraws” an earlier story on purported Israeli warnings to a hospital and five schools to evacuate, saying it included “erroneous reporting.”

The story earlier Friday had reported what it said was a claim by aid agencies in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip that Israel warned humanitarian groups to evacuate a major hospital and five schools ahead of a potential strike.

The story was denied by the IDF, which said no such warning had been issued.

The story had also quoted what it said was a statement by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, saying Israel had told it to evacuate five schools “as fast as possible.”

Withdrawing the story, AFP says UNRWA issued no official statement to that effect.
