Police arrest 7 Jewish East Jerusalem residents in shooting of 2 Palestinians

Police have arrested seven Jewish Israelis who it suspects were involved in a shooting earlier this evening that left two Palestinians injured in Beit Hanina.

Shortly before the shooting, Palestinians in the East Jerusalem neighborhood had been rioting, hurling rocks and Molotov cocktails, police say.

According to Haaretz, two cars pulled up to the scene and the Jewish passengers got out with their weapons cocked. When residents began approaching the armed Israelis, the latter began to fire, striking two Palestinians. But Jewish residents told the news site that the suspects fired after rocks were thrown at them.

Police have arrested the suspects and confiscated their weapons, which it says were legally owned.

In a separate incident in East Jerusalem, two Jewish-owned vehicles were set on fire in the Abu Tor neighborhood.
