Three Israelis were killed in a light plane crash in Maryland yesterday, the Foreign Ministry says in a statement, confirming earlier reports.
“Israel’s Consul in Washington and the Department for Israelis Abroad at the Foreign Ministry are accompanying the families during this difficult time, maintaining continuous contact with them, and assisting with coordination and communication with the local authorities,” the ministry says.
Local press and Hebrew media reported that the crash took place overnight, a few kilometers east of Washington, DC, killing all three occupants, a pilot and two passengers.
The cause was not immediately known. The plane belonged to a local flight school and may have been engaged in a training flight at the time of the crash, according to the reports.
