Ya’alon: Terrorists in Syria could draw Israel into fight

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has met with US Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and tells him that Israel could be drawn into Syria by the large number of terror groups operating there.

There are currently some 30 terror groups active in Syria, he tells Dempsey, according to Israel Radio.

The groups are not threatening Israel at the moment but this can change any day, and if it does, the IDF will strike them forcefully, says Ya’alon.

Dempsey is visiting Israel with his wife. He landed in the country yesterday.
