Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s office said Tuesday that he received a threatening letter bearing Nazi symbols, as the country marked Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Smotrich’s office published images of the English-language letter, which accused the far-right minister of “keeping the historical cycles alive: victim becomes victimizer.”

The letter was postmarked from Oakland, California, according to several Hebrew media reports.

“Are you ready for when the wheel takes another turn?” the sender asked, calling him a “mother-fucking idiot” and concluding: “You intend to destroy Israel.”

The statement said that the letter was received on Holocaust Remembrance Day, as the nation remembers the six million Jews killed by the Nazis.

Smotrich’s office said a special unit under the Prime Minister’s Office tasked with the security of government ministers had opened an investigation.

There was no comment from police on the matter.

Smotrich has a long history of remarks against the LGBTQ community, Arabs, Palestinians and non-Orthodox Jews, some of which he has walked back.

Earlier this year he called for the Palestinian town of Huwara to be wiped out after two brothers were killed there in a terror attack and extremist settlers went on a rampage that left a Palestinian man dead under unclear circumstances.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made several complaints to the police over threats to harm him and his family. In February, a man received a suspended sentence and a fine for an online threat to sexually assault the premier’s wife.
