Woman suspected of trying to drown her mother-in-law

Police said Sunday they had arrested a woman on suspicion that she tried to drown another woman — identified by Hebrew media outlets as the suspect’s mother-in-law — at Sdot Yam beach, near Caesarea.
The incident took place last week. Police received a report about two women fighting in the water, with one appearing to be drowning.
Officers arrived at the scene and searched for the suspect, who had begun to swim away.
The woman who had appeared to be drowning, a 69-year-old resident of Pardes Hanna, was taken for medical attention in good condition.
The woman who was arrested was detained for questioning at the Hadera police station, and her arrest was extended until Monday.
The suspect’s name and details are under court-imposed gag order, and the investigation is ongoing.
Separately, an 88-year-old man was pronounced dead after he drowned at Sironit beach in Netanya.
Emergency medical technicians from Magen David Adom told Hebrew media: “They led us to the water’s edge and we saw a man lying on the sand, unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, after he’d been removed from the water.
“People in the area were carrying out basic resuscitation efforts. We continued the resuscitation efforts, at the end of which we had to pronounce him dead,” the EMTs said.
