Mother, 2 children hurt in Tel Aviv apartment fire

A 27-year old woman and her two children were hurt when a fire broke out in their south Tel Aviv apartment on Tuesday, rescue workers said.

The children, aged 2 and 4, were moderately hurt, suffering from smoke inhalation, the Magen David Adom Rescue Service said. The woman was lightly injured.

It was not immediately clear what caused the blaze in the three story building.

Last month, a woman was killed after a fire broke out in her apartment in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo. Firefighters broke into the apartment and pulled out the woman, said to be in her 60s, Israel Radio reported. She was rushed to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek hospital by medics, but died from smoke inhalation, the report said.

On September 18, dozens of people were injured when a Jerusalem apartment building caught fire. At least 36 were said hurt from various causes related to the fire. There were no fatalities.
